McCafferty, Eleanor Kathleen
Suddenly passed away at Hamilton General Hospital on Sunday, November 13, 2016 at 68 years of age. Daughter of Clarence and Kathleen Muir of Belisle Creek NB. Beloved wife of Brian. Loving mother of Sean and his partner Vanessa Mesic, Kevin, Erin, Megan and her partner Kevin Scott. Cherished sister of Lloyd (Irene) and Margaret (Purdy) MacMillan. Predeceased by siblings David, Teeny, Ted (Lois) and Malcolm. Eleanor will be sadly missed by sister-in-law Donna Muir, brother-in-law Charles Neill and by her many nieces, nephews and members of her extended family. Most recently, Eleanor was a charge nurse at Riverbend Place, Cambridge. She had previously worked in nursing at the Cambridge Association for the Mentally Handicapped, Valley Regional Hospital in Kentville, Nova Scotia and Aberdeen Hospital in New Glasgow, NS. Eleanor was an avid volunteer having worked at Pride Stables in Kitchener, an assistant leader in Scouting having served both in New Mina NS as well as Cambridge, and worked as a volunteer in a number of school activities in New Minas. Eleanor was also an active member of the Ancient Mariners Canoe Club of Cambridge and member of the Golden Triangle Scrabble Club. Eleanor loved her travels with Brian both in North America and abroad in South America, Europe and Asia. She loved reading, her cats, and the courses that she was taking in line dancing and calligraphy in Cambridge. She thoroughly enjoyed walking and hiking in the great outdoors. She was also a member of St. Mary of The Visitation Roman Catholic Church, Cambridge. Family will receive guests at Lounsbury Funeral Home, 1766 Franklin Boulevard, Cambridge, Ontario on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Rosary Prayers will be offered at the funeral home on Wednesday at 8pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Mary of The Visitation Roman Catholic Church, 16 Cooper Street, Cambridge, on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at 11am. Cremation to follow. Interment will take place at New Hope Cemetery, Cambridge, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada would be appreciated by the family.
